On making the Macbook a serious laptop again after languishing with minimal updates for two years. Sure, now itapos;s even more expensive than before, but it just might be worth the price: a fancy new aluminum shell, 2 GB standard (finally), and decent integrated graphics Of course, nvidia is going to realize making a deal with Apple is about prestige, not profit. However, even an integrated 9400-series graphics chip should handle most games at lower settings, and readily work with high-definition video for years to come. Not so with Intelapos;s offerings.

What does make me say ho-hum is the new MacBook Pros. A 9600M has the same power as a Geforece 9500 GT desktop card, which isnapos;t exactly a high-octane part to begin with. I know theyapos;ve been downclocking video cards from stock specs to keep everything running cool in those thin chasses, but was a 9800M that hard to get in there? The improvement youapos;d see on a 9600M over the integrated 9400 will be about double in games, I predict, but the numbers the 9400 will produce wonapos;t be that impressive in the first place. At least you can disable it so it doesnapos;t use much more power than the MacBook.

Time to save up, and get a nice, evil Microsoft operating system to use with it
